Kenya has so far administered 3,554,424 vaccines across the country, the Ministry of Health has announced.
Of these, the total first doses were 2,672,861 while the second doses were 881,563.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is 30.0 per cent. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 3.2 per cent.
The uptake of the second dose by Priority Groups is as follows: Aged 58 years and above 253,850, others 284,402, Health Workers 140,765, Teachers 128,408 while Security Officers are at 74,138.
Covid-19 numbers
Kenya also recorded 394 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, from a sample of 7,254 raising the country's caseload to 248,069.
In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the new infections take the country’s positivity rate to 5.3 per cent and cumulated tests conducted so far to 2,527,861.
Out of the new patients, 213 are male, whereas 181 are female, with the youngest carrier being a two-month-old infant, and the oldest aged 104.
Of the new cases, 11 are foreigners while the rest are Kenyans.
Distribution
In terms of counties distribution, Nairobi leads with 108 cases, Nakuru 39, Meru 23, Uasin Gishu 22, Kiambu 21, Baringo 16, Laikipia 15, Kajiado 13, Narok and Garissa 11 cases each, Bomet 9, Wajir and Kericho 8 cases each, Kisii, Nyeri and Turkana 7 cases each, Machakos, Bungoma and Embu 6 cases, Migori and Murang’a 5 cases each, Kakamega, Nyandarua, Kilifi, Kitui and Makueni 4 cases each, Marsabit 3, Busia, Elgeyo Mrakwet, Kirinyaga, Kisumu, Homa Bay, West Pokot and Mombasa 2 cases each, Nandi, Siaya, Tharaka Nithi and Lamu 1 case each.
Kenya’s Covid-19 toll reached 5,082 after 37 patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.
Total recoveries now stand at 239,298 after 414 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours with 367 from the Home-Based and Isolation care programme while 47 are from various health facilities in the country.
Of the total recoveries, 193,425 are from the Home Based Isolation Care programme while 45,873 are from various hospitals countrywide.
A total of 1,241 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 2,707 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
Eighty-seven (87) patients are in the ICU, 51 of whom are on ventilatory support and 31 on supplemental oxygen. Five (5) patients are on observation.
Another 373 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 360 of them in general wards and 13 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
