Eighteen people have succumbed to the coronavirus, according to the newest statistics by the Health Ministry.

“One death occurred in the last 24 hours, while 17 are late deaths reported after conducting Facility Record Audits on diverse dates in the months of May and June,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe (pictured) said in a statement Saturday.

This now pushes the Covid-19 death toll in the country to 3,396.

Another four hundred and three people have also tested positive, from a 5,577 sample size conducted in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate is now 7.2 per cent.

Kenya now has 175,176 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 1,864,020 tests conducted so far since the onset of the disease.

Some 442 patients have recovered, “418 from the Home Based & Isolation Care program and twenty-four discharged from various health facilities.

Total recoveries now stand at 120,031.

The CS added that nine hundred and fifty-seven patients are currently admitted in various health facilities, while 4,796 patients are under Home Based Isolation and Care program. 

One hundred and sixty-three patients are in the ICU, 30 of whom are on ventilatory support and 113 on supplemental oxygen. The Ministry says 20 patients are under observation.
