Kenya’s Covid-19 toll reached 3,124 on Friday, May 28 after 16 more people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.
The country also recorded 344 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, from a sample of 4,864 raising the country's caseload to 168,543.
In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the new infections take the country’s positivity rate to 7.1 per cent and cumulated tests conducted so far to 1,801,449.
Out of the new patients, 198 are male, whereas 146 are female, with the youngest carrier two-months-old, and the oldest aged 93.
Distribution
In terms of counties distribution, Nairobi leads with 77 cases, Siaya 68, Kisumu 53, Mombasa 14, Bungoma 13, Busia and Uasin Gishu 12 casaes each, Nakuru and Homa Bay 11 cases each, Kisii 9, Garias 8, Kaimbu and Nyeri 7 cases each, Embu 6, Muranga 5, Makueni 4, Kericho 3, Baringo, Kajiado, Kilifi, Kirinyaga, Kitui, Trans Nzoia and Turkana 2 cases each.
West Pokot, Elegeyo Marakwet, Kakamega, Mandera, Meru, Migori, Machakos, Nandi, Narok and Taita Taveta a case each.
The total recoveries so far stand at 116,018 after 30 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours with 3 from the Home-Based and Isolation care programme while 27 are from various health facilities in the country.
Of the total recoveries, 84,350 are from the Home Based Isolation Care programme while 31,668 are from various hospitals countrywide.
A total of 1,188 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 4,712 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
One hundred and seven (107) patients are in the ICU, 80 of whom are on ventilatory support and 63 on supplemental oxygen. Twenty-four (24) patients are on observation.
Another 86 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 80 of them in general wards and six (6) in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Vaccination
Kenya has as of today, vaccinated 966,433 against the Covid-19 disease countrywide.
Of these 292,767 are aged 58 years and above together with others, Health workers are 161,151, teachers so far vaccinated are 151,995, security officers 81, 729 while 274,791 are the other categories.
