It is six days since a Makueni teacher and businessman went missing in Nairobi.
Gideon Munyao Mutua, 29, (pictured) was a teacher at Darajani Secondary School near Kambu market and operated a chain of mobile money shops at Machinery market.
His family has complained about the slow pace of search operations by officers from Nairobi’s Central Police Station.
On May 15, 2020, he was attacked by four armed men shortly after he closed his shops.
One man who had a pistol was killed by a mob and the rest disappeared into the darkness.
The police have not been unraveled the identity of the men behind the attack.
At his home in Kalulu village, Machinery, villagers have been visiting the family, with local religious leaders holding prayers.
His wife, Jane Mwikali, a mother of one, describes her husband as a peaceful man who left home on Monday at around 3am to board the first matatu to Nairobi.
Mutua, a Board of Management teacher in Darajani, was to visit Teachers Service Commission (TSC) headquarters in Nairobi in his quest to get a permanent teaching job.
“He woke me up and told me he was ready to leave for Nairobi. We prayed and he left with his academic documents," said Mwikali
Mutua left Machinery stage for Nairobi at around 4.20am and at 7.20am, he arrived at Machakos Junction.
At 7.55am, the vehicle was on Nairobi’s Jogoo Road and the last call he made to his wife was at 9.30am, informing her that he had alighted from the matatu and he was on his way to the TSC offices in Upper Hill.
He didn’t sound distressed.
When Mwikali called him at 11am, his phone was off. The phone has since been off.
