Nine students of Kirimari Boys’ High School in Embu County have denied charges of setting ablaze two dormitories and destroying property worth more than Sh1.7 million.

The nine boys who appeared before Chief Magistrate Maxwell Gicheru pleaded not guilty to charges of setting ablaze Kindaruma and Grand Fall dormitories valued at Sh1,710,924 belonging to Kirimari Boys High School on March 6, 2021.

The case had failed to take place since the boys did not have a lawyer. “ I am Muchangi and I have been appointed to represent the minors and they are ready to take plea,” submitted the defense counsel.

The prosecution requested for one week to supply the accused with witness statements and other documentary evidence.

The students are out on a personal bonds signed by their parents and the case will be mentioned on March 23.
