A Senegalese was taken to court for allegedly stealing from a Kenyan woman he met on an online dating site.

Alfred Bangura, 38, is said to have lured the victim to a petrol station in Nairobi’s Marurui estate and asked her to board his vehicle.

Midway, the suspect allegedly turned violent and robbed the woman of her personal effects, including a mobile phone worth Sh25,000.

Bangura is remanded at Industrial Area Prison after he denied the charges in court on Friday.

Separately, police in Kilimani arrested a 55-year-old Nigerian for allegedly attempting to defraud a businessman of Sh17.6 million in a gold trade deal.

Yussuf Daniel Masara was arrested on Friday night at his house in Kilimani after the victim reported him to the police.

The man is accused of falsely obtaining money from the businessman, who is a US citizen, after promising to sell to him 50kg of gold.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti said Masara did not deliver the gold as promised.

Kinoti tweeted that Masara was a member of a bigger criminal gang targeting unsuspecting traders.

The arrest of the two foreigners comes barely a month after a 36-year-old foreigner was arrested and is helping police with investigations into the murder of city lawyer Elizabeth Koki.

Christian Kadima was arrested by Athi River DCI officers after Koki was found dead in her house in Syokimau on January 14.

Among the issues that the police are yet to establish is the suspect's true nationality after he was found with multiple identification documents.
