A section of leaders has demanded investigations into the death of Christopher Gachari, run over by a convoy of vehicles heading to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s meeting at Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri last Saturday.
Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, accompanied by his Nominated counterpart David Ole Sankok and Senator Issac Mwaura, issued an ultimatum to the National Police Service to make an arrest within 14 days.
"Gachari was one of us and his life mattered and if you do not make any arrests in 14 days we shall hold demonstrations demanding action from the police," Ole Sankok stated.
Mwaura said they will ensure the killing is investigated and those who were involved are arrested.
“We will not allow people who drive in vehicles fuelled by taxpayers’ funds to kill the same people they should protect,” said Mwaura.
Gachari who was living with disability died over the weekend in a road accident involving three VIP vehicles along the Karundas- Chaka Road.
There was drama at the end of the two-hour funeral service when the leaders who were hoping to speak were told to make their remarks after the event.
However, the leaders demanded they be allowed to address the mourners and condole with the family.
"We want to ask the government and leaders from this constituency to fight for justice for the Gachari family," Gachagua stated.
