Police in Narok town are investigating an incident where a 32-year-old government officer died mysteriously in a hotel room while in the company of girlfriend.

According to area Sub-County Police Commander Frederick Kinaipei, the incident happened at night when the man and the woman were asleep.

“We received information at around 6:30 am that a man had died in a hotel room at Oloropil Plaza within the town centre. Our officers responded and found the naked body of the man in bed while a woman believed to be his girlfriend was also within the same room,” said Kinaipei.

The sub-county police boss narrated that upon combing the room the police found a pack of unused condoms, a bottle of whisky, soda and a bottle of energy drink.

The body according to the police had no visible injuries and that the scene had no indication of the struggle between the two people.

The deceased identified as Edmond Parseen before his demise was working as at the Ministry of Industrialization in Kisii County and according to the police, he booked the hotel room at 6 pm the previous day when she was joined by the girlfriend.

“We are holding the girlfriend to assist us in the investigation. We would like to know how they knew each other, how they met and what transpired before he died. We want to rule out any foul play if any,” Kinaipei said.

The police, however, revealed that they have launched investigations into the matter and were relying on the medical report on the components of the drink he had partaken.

The deceased’s uncle Felix Nkoyo said the deceased was unreachable on his mobile since Friday only for him to learn that he had died.

“He (deceased) was like my own son. I brought him up, educated him and even linked him to the job he was doing. I rang him Friday but his phone was off. I was not worried because I knew he could call later. I was however shocked to receive a call that he had been found dead in a hotel room, “said Nkoyo.

He revealed that the woman he was with was coincidentally their neighbour though he never knew if they had an affair.

The body of the deceased has been ferried to Narok County Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.
