The family of Frankline Ochieng has lost its last born son Isaac Odhiambo after spending 24 days in ICU at the Nairobi Hospital for a disease which the parents say baffled even medics.

The student’s body now lies at the Lee Funeral Home with a bill of Sh5 million owed to the hospital. This debt is growing daily by Sh4,000 in funeral home charges.

Ochieng and his wife Nereah are unable to settle the bill. The deceased, 23, was due to graduate from Dedan Kimathi University, where he had completed his Bachelor of Commerce studies. On March 6, he was taken to Coptic Hospital where doctors referred him to Nairobi Hospital.

“They put him in isolation and later placed him in ICU because nobody knew what he was suffering from,” Ochieng says.

The family appeals to well-wishers to help them settle the bill and lay their son to rest in Yimbo, Siaya County.
