Some parts of the country will experience heavy rainfall to the range over 30mm beginning Friday, Kenya Meteorological Department has warned.
In its weather forecast update, the weatherman has listed Nairobi, Western, Central Kenya and Coastal parts of the country that will experience heavy rains from tomorrow up to early next week.
“The rainfall being experienced over several parts of the country is expected to continue into the weekend and the better part of early next week. Heavy rainfall of more than 30mm in 24 hours is expected over Western, Central region including Nairobi, and the coastal region of Kenya,” weatherman states in the update.
Besides the rainfall, the weatherman has also said that the regions will also experience strong winds of 20knots and large waves of two metres.

As a result, the weather body has advised residents in the above regions to exercise caution by watching out for floods. It has also advised them to ‘avoid driving or walking through water or open fields, or taking shelter under trees or near grilled windows to minimise exposure to lightning.’
The coastal strip may not be spared as heavy rainfall may lead to strong winds which may make storm to surge along the shores of the Indian Ocean. Weatherman, therefore, warns fishermen against the Marine Industry agencies to be on the watch out.
It has the same word of caution to residents living along Mt Kenya and Aberdares, and other areas prone to landslide to be vigilant.
