A boda boda rider died on the spot following a road accident involving his motorcycle and a vehicle along the Iten-Kapsowar road in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The car belonging to a Catholic priest was heading to Nerkwo Parish in Marakwet West constituency while the rider was traveling to Bugar trading centre at the time of the Monday evening accident.

Elgeyo Marakwet County Police commander John Mwinzi said the catholic priest escaped unhurt during the accident that happened at Duka Moja area in Keiyo North constituency.

It remained unclear why the priest and the deceased rider were traveling during the curfew.

“One of those involved in the accident flouted traffic rules. Our investigations are ongoing to establish who was on the wrong,” Mr Mwinzi said.

He said the priest will be charged if found to have flouted traffic rules.

The police boss said the priest’s car was taken to a nearby police station for assessment as police continue with investigations.

Mwinzi said neither the rider nor the priest were carrying passengers at the time of the accident.
