Central Organisation of Trade Union (Cotu) Secretary General Francis Atwoli (pictured) has maintained that Deputy President William Ruto will not succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

Speaking at the burial of Lay Canon Natfali Onyango in Bulanda, in Busia, yesterday, Mr Atwoli accused Ruto of frustrating efforts by the President to unite the country through Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

“You cannot frustrate your boss when he is still in power. The DP made a gross mistake by showing his interest for the presidency very early,” he said.

The Cotu boss explained that BBI has got nothing to do with succession politics but to unite Kenyans.

He proposed the creation of at least six slots in the Executive to end the winner-take-all system.

Atwoli vowed to champion for the BBI for the sake of peace and prosperity of the nation.

He observed that President Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga mean well for the nation and called on politicians to support their bid to unite the country.

“It is our children who are killed and maimed after the General Election. The solution to post-election violence is BBI,” Atwoli said.
