Two people have been killed in Naivasha and four others seriously injured in two different accidents around the lakeside town.

In the first incident, the driver of a trailer died on the spot and four others including a minor were seriously injured following a head on collision along the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu road.

The accident at Governor’s camp near Longonot town occurred after a canter heading to Mai Mahiu rammed head on into the incoming trailer.

On impact, the driver of the trailer died on the spot while his passenger suffered fractures on both legs and hands.

A witness Phillip Njihia noted that three occupants of the canter including the minor were seriously injured and rushed to Mai Mahiu health center.

Njihia said that the driver of the canter was to blame after overtaking a fleet of vehicles before hitting the oncoming trailer.

“The accident occurred very fast with the driver of the trailer dying on the spot while four other people were seriously injured,” he said.

And along Moi South Lake road in Naivasha, unidentified pedestrian was hit and killed by a speeding motorist on Tuesday morning.

The driver of the car that was evading hitting a pothole escaped from the scene and the man was confirmed dead on arrival at Naivasha sub-county hospital.

“The man does not have any identification documents and was walking along the dilapidated road when the accident occurred,” said a witness, Abel Mwangi.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed both incidents adding that the bodies had been collected and taken to area mortuary.
