Detectives are closing in on the arrest of key suspects involved in the brutal murder of Collins Marube, 32, who was killed on New Year's eve at his home in Kerina, Kitutu Central in Kisii.
Officers attached to the DCI and deployed to Kitutu Central Police station have told the Standard that several people had recorded statements following the brutal murder of Marube who was picked from a burial on December 30, 2019 at around 9pm by a group of people.
Before the victim’s body was found, his father had received a call from his friends informing him that his son had been picked by unknown people driving a Probox and at least three motorbikes. Omari says he then called the area Chief but claims he did not get much help.
Less than an hour later, his father Michael Omari, received a call from his neighbor informing him he had found his son’s body lying near his compound.
Omari said he responded to the call arrived at the scene only to find his son in deep pain and pleading for help.
The family arrived with the now deceased at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) minutes past midnight. He was pronounced dead hours later at around at 6am on December 31, 2019.
According to the father, his son was a disciplined and honest child. “He has been working as a plant operator in Nairobi and had planned to relocate to Kisii at the beginning of this year. My son mumbled the names of those who attacked him moments before he died. My wish is that the suspects be arrested for his murder.”
The matter was reported at Nyakoe Police Post through OB number 10/31/12/2019.
DCI Kitutu Central on January 2, 2020 requested for a postmortem examination.
In the report, the pathologists formed an opinion that the deceased died due to complications of the spinal injury caused by blunt force trauma.
Kisii County Police Commander Martin Kibet could not comment on the matter as he was out of office.
