A suspect who allegedly defiled and murdered a class four girl has been arrested.

The minor was defiled and killed on December 28, 2019. Her body was found dumped along a path at Lwanda B Village, East Kanyamwa in Ndhiwa Sub County.

Homa Bay County leaders led by Kanyamwa Kosewe MCA Nicholas Owaka and former Public Service Member Florence Ouma said justice should prevail to the family of the slain girl.

Addressing journalists at Ndhiwa Police station yesterday, Owaka told residents to cooperate with police in identifying more suspects for punitive legal measures.

Owaka said the suspects who murdered the girl are residents of the area and must be arrested.

“Suspects who killed the young girl are people in this community which means there is someone who knows them. Let us avoid protecting criminals and report the matter to the police,” Owaka told residents.

He urged political leaders in the county to team up in ending defilement in the region.

Ndhiwa Sub-county Police Commander Evans Ombui said the 21-year-old suspect was being detained at Ndhiwa Police station.

“We are still interrogating him to dig up more information and we are still looking for more suspects,” Ombui said.

The slain girl was a pupil of Agomy Academy.
