Police have arrested three suspects following last week's robbery at the home of a local businessman.

They also recovered a pistol and 176 rounds of ammunition which belonged to the businessman.

Speaking yesterday, County Police Commander Ayub Ali said a Barreta pistol and other items that had been stolen including electronics were recovered from a house in Lavington Estate, Trans Nzoia.

Mr Ali said his officers were tipped by the public on the whereabouts of the suspects. "The loss of the gun and the ammunition was a security threat. It is laudable that my officers managed to recover it. We believe the robbery at the businessman's house was an inside job," Ali said.

“We are advising business people to vet those they recruit to avoid such incidences. There are dangerous characters out there out to rob them."

Meanwhile, County Criminal Investigations Officer Grace Mauklupe, has warned unscrupulous traders in Kitale who buy and sell stolen property that their days are numbered.

"We are investigating some people who are aiding thieves by buying stolen items from them," Ms Mauklupe said.
