Kibra MP Ken Okoth’s interment will go on as planned after the family gave in to demands by his alleged lover nominated MCA Anne Thumbi to allow her son Jayden Baraka Okoth to be recorgnised and take part in the interment plans.
Speaking following the agreement among the parties, lawyer Edwin Sifuna who represented Okoth’s mother Angelina Ajwang' and his wife Monica said the family will conduct a DNA test at 4pm today to formalise things.
According to Sifuna, Okoth’s wife Monica and his mother Angelina have not objected to the DNA test and it will be conducted at 4pm.
“Sample of DNA are being taken between now and 4pm and Jayden has been allowed to be part of the burial programme,” said Sifuna.
The ODM Secretary General said he was elated that the obstacle that threatened to stop Okoth’s burial had been resolved.
“I am happy there is light at the end of the tunnel, we are proceeding to Lee Funeral home to clear all pending issues,” he added.
Ms Thumbi through her lawyer Danston Omari said the departed MP had a son together in 2015. They named him Jayden Baraka Okoth.
Thumbi said she loved Ken so much and could not imagine the burial being stopped.
On Thursday, the nominated MCA moved to court to stop the burial and cremation of Okoth until his son was recorgnised and included in the burial arrangements.
The court ordered that after the DNA sample is taken on Friday, the MP interment should go on as planned.
