Ex-aspirant's case postponed.

The trial of a former Nakuru West parliamentary aspirant charged with causing disturbance has been postponed.

This was after the politician claimed he was assaulted by the public on June 15, the day he allegedly committed the offence. The accused, Hezron Okiki, presented to court a letter addressed to Officer Commanding Kaptembwo Police Station wanting the office to address the assault claim.

The letter dated June 26, 2019, was presented before Principal Magistrate Faith Munyi yesterday. Mr Okiki claims he was accosted by people he believes were sent by Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama at Angaza SDA Church where the two had been invited for a fund raiser.

Okiki claims while at Kaptembwo Police, he recorded a statement and was told to wait outside the station but the same people trooped in and assaulted him again.

In the letter, Okiki wonders how he was accosted and assaulted but still got arraigned in court with the charges of causing disturbances at the police and the church. “We have seen the letter. The case will be mentioned on July 11," ruled the magistrate.
