A man, 61, charged with killing his wife has been sentenced to life imprisonment. This follows a decision by the High Court in Nakuru that Joseph Kibet (pictured) has no home to go to.

Justice Janet Mulwa said a non-custodial sentence will not be in the interest of Kibet as there is no family for him to go to since his children are allegedly scattered in different parts of the country.

Kibet allegedly killed his wife Jane Chepkemoi on June 14, 2012 and in December 20, 2018 he was convicted.

The judge said going by the social-enquiry report, his children are yet to come to terms with their mother’s loss seven years later.

Kibet, through his lawyer, had sought forgiveness from the court, saying he is remorseful and sickly.
