A dispute over Sh6,000 house rent ended in tragedy after a  tenant stabbed his landlord to death in Karagita Estate in Naivasha.

The landlord died while being rushed to Naivasha sub-county hospital.

According to a neighbour, John Kimathi, the tenant and the landlord had been arguing over unpaid house rent.

He said that the suspect had not paid rent for three months and the landlord wanted him out of the house.

“The landlord had come to issue a vacate notice to the tenant and was stabbed several times on the chest,” he said.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru said a search for the suspect who fled soon after the incident is on.

“We have questioned his wife who was present during the incident as part of the investigations,” he said.

Meanwhile, police in Naivasha are investigating an incident where a middle-aged man died after a drinking spree with friends.

The 38-year-old labourer was found dead in his sister’s homestead in Ihindu village off the Nairobi-Nakuru highway hours after leaving one of the local bars.

Two people have recorded statements with the police on the death.
