Champions Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa stamped their authority by dominating day one of the Coast Junior swimming gala, yesterday.
The event held at the 25-metre long swimming pool at Aga Khan saw the host take advantage of home support to take the lion’s share by winning most races.
In boys’ seven years 100m Individual Medley (IM), Ethan Maina of Aga Khan Academy clocked 1.47.20 for the first position with Aryan Joseph and Tendo Mua of Dolphins and Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa timed at 1.50.92 and 1.55.05 for second and third.
In boys eight years 100m IM, Mahin Patel of Aga Khan Academy won in 1.53.98 with Aayan Natha of Bandari and Oshwal Academy’s Kian Shah clocking 1.54.38 and 1.58.31 in that order.
Aga Khan added another trophy after Alexandra Hart won the girls nine years 10m IM in 1.30.08. Zikra Jaffer of Blue Ocean and Tshomela Muriuki of Oshwal Academy settled the second and third positions after 1.36.08 and 1.42.13 respectively.
Iqbal Bayusuf of Bandari clocked 1.34.40 to win the boys nine year 100m IM as Ally Jamal (Nyali primary) and Michael Arowo of Tudor Swim Club timing 1.41.13 and 1.46.07 respectively.
In a fast paced girls 10 years 100m IM, Duini Caffini of Bandari outpaced her opponents to win after registering 1.29.51 to beat Oshwal Academy’s Emma Wambui to second position in 1.35.67. Jasmine Pendo of Bandari returned 1.37.87 for third place.
The girls eight years 100m IM was won by Neema Ruwa of Braeburn in 1.39.79. [Ernest Ndunda]
