Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to declare a state of emergency for six months and suspend the constitution if the Supreme Court decides to postpone the October 26 repeat presidential election.
At a time when most politicians are taking to their social media pages to express themselves at length, Ndindi took to his Facebook and said that the president should rule with an iron fist during this period and make the Judiciary a department of the Executive.
The Supreme Court is expected to deliver a verdict on the latest petition lodged on Tuesday by three voters which will give clarity to the fate of October 26 repeat poll date.
President Uhuru Kenyatta ruled out any talks with National super Alliance flagbearer Raila Odinga, who withdrew from the presidential race after failure by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to meet the coalition’s ‘irreducible minimums’.
In his post, Nyoro said, “If Wakora rules against the people of Kenya tomorrow, the president should declare a state of emergency for 6 Months and suspend the constitution. Within this period, he should rule by the fist, make Judiciary a department of the executive and redeem our country from dark forces by scrapping some useless entities like the Supreme Court. These characters must behave tomorrow! There's no two way about it. We are African and Africa is our business.”
This statement was in reaction to a petition filed at the Supreme Court seeking to postpone the October 26 poll.
