KISUMU, KENYA: Kisumu residents took to the streets on Tuesday in a peaceful protest against Independence and Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The protestors marched from Kisumu’s Kondele estate to town center chanting anti-Chiloba slogan along Angawa Street, and Jomo Kenyatta Highway.
They were led by civil rights activists and later joined by Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyongo
The demonstrators heeded calls of NASA leaders who are calling for the resignation of IEBC top officials including CEO Ezra Chiloba before repeat presidential elections set for October 26.
The Opposition has vowed to peacefully march to the electoral agency's offices on Tuesday to force its top officials to resign for allegedly bungling the August vote.
The National Super Alliance (NASA) has also accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of failing to adequately address the concerns it had raised as 'irreducible minimum', protesting that the commission was proceeding with business as usual without any accountability.
