Former National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal, Peter Munya, has been reinstated as the Party of National Unity (PNU) leader.

Munya’s reinstatement comes days after he ditched Opposition leader Raila Odinga and the NASA coalition to support President Uhuru Kenyatta in the repeat presidential election slated for October 17.

"The list of party officials of the Party of National Unity as contained in Gazette Notice No. 8315 of 2017 is cancelled,” stated the Registrar of Political Parties Lucy Ndung'u on Friday.

Munya had in June demanded the Political Parties’ Dispute Tribunal investigated by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) for what he said was making politically motivated rulings.

The former NASA member maintained that he was the leader of PNU.

Raila revealed on Tuesday the reason why Munya ditched him days after dumping the Jubilee Party.

According to the NASA presidential candidate, he left the coalition because ‘he was under a lot of pressure.’

The former Prime Minister noted that Munya’s move will not affect the coalition votes from the Meru region.

Raila also maintained that NASA will not go the repeat presidential election with a faulty Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
