1. The Isiolo-Moyale road was constructed at a cost Sh42 billion.
2. Former President Mwai Kibaki launched construction of the road during his second term in office as part of Vision 2030 project.
3. President Uhuru Kenyatta commissioned Turbi-Moyale (A2) road on July 26, 2017.
4. The road was constructed by a Chinese company, China Wu Yi.
5. In December 2013, China Wu Yi suspended construction after rivals engaged in conflict, attacked its workers and vehicles in Marsabit.
6. Travelling from Marsabit to Nairobi (through Isiolo) used to take three days, the road will reduce travel time to at least 12 hours.
7. It has three sections, Merille River-Marsabit, Marsabit-Turbi and Turbi-Moyale. Each phase is 121km long.
8. The highway is a key part of the Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia (LAPSSET) Corridor Project.
9. The Turbi - Moyale (A2) road is the last section of the Trans-Africa Highway Corridor in Kenya.
10. The African Development Bank (AfDB) is one of the major donors that financed the project.
