Four police officers were Sunday arrested after they were linked to a robbery of Sh2 million in Riroini area, Limuru along Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

They are alleged to have attacked and robbed a Chinese national, Wunei Dun of the money as he drove from Nairobi to Bomet.

The Chinese man runs a gambling business in Nairobi and Bomet. His driver was also arrested after he was linked to the incident.

Police investigations show he is the one who leaked the information to the attackers before they struck on Saturday morning.

The Chinese national went to Limuru police station and reported he was driving towards Nakuru direction on Saturday when a gang of four waylaid him on the road and blocked his car.

They then grabbed the money that was in the car and sped off.

Police moved into action and traced the money to the four arrested officers. One of the officers works with Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Chepalungu and was found with Sh100,000, which was part of the money robbed from the Chinese.

He was also found with a white salon car that was used in the robbery. Police also found a pair of handcuffs on him.

A second female officer and who is a daughter to a senior police officer officer in the city was also found with Sh95,000. She is attached to Central DCI office and was arrested from her Shauri Moyo residence.

A third officer is attached to Central DCI office and was found Sh100,000 and had spent Sh50,000, which was robbed from the Chinese man.

Police said they recovered a pistol that had seven bullets from his Gachie house.

Another constable attached to Kikuyu DCI office was also found with Sh150,000 at his Kilimani police lines.

The officers were bundled to Limuru police cells ahead of their arraignment Monday.

Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome confirmed the arrests and said the law will follow its course.
