After spending two months in hospital, businessman William Osewe is back on his feet, albeit with minimal movement.
Osewe, a renowned restaurateur was last week treated to a surprise party by his friends in his lavish Karen home, where he was jovial as nyama choma, chapos and drinks flowed freely. He even received a bouquet of flowers as friends wished him well after his near-death experience.
Osewe, the owner of the popular K’Osewe (Ranalo Foods) along Kimathi Street was shot by his close friend, Tom Oywa Mboya, on December 1, 2016.
Mboya, who one time chauffeured Osewe before lady luck smiled on him, was reported to have shot Osewe after sharing a meal of fish and ugali at a restaurant in Garden Estate.
Mboya surrendered to Kasarani police after the shooting incident and alleged that their fallout was a result of suspicions that he was unusually close to Osewe’s wife, Stella Mutheu. Last week, Stella was pictured presenting flowers to a smiling Osewe whose bandaged feet were stretched on a wheelchair.
Former musician and now radio host, Gidigidi (Joseph Ogidi) of Gidigidi Majimaji duo fame, wrote on his Facebook page that, “We had a great afternoon with Mr and Mrs Osewe at his residence. He is recovering well at home. The food was out of this world. Thanks to friends for this gesture. Get well soon bro.”
Family sources told The Nairobian that Osewe “has recovered but cannot walk for long due to the pain on his waist.”
Osewe was admitted at the Aga Khan Hospital’s High Dependency Unit (HDU) where he underwent a series of surgeries to remove bullets lodged in his abdomen.
Tom Oywa Mboya was charged with attempted murder on December 1. He denied the charges and was released on a Sh300,000 cash bail pending hearing of his case once the complainant recovers.
