Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

It has emerged that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka shares a national identification card number with another person.

Kalonzo said he discovered one Salome Wanjiru Njoroge, who was born in 1993, has the same ID number as his when he went to verify his details at a centre in Wajir yesterday.

"It is now clear what is happening across the country. This explains why the Registrar of Persons has been retained several years after attaining retirement age. CORD will not allow such machinations," Kalonzo said.

He had gone to verify his details at an Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) centre at Wagberi Primary School in Wajir East constituency.

Kalonzo and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula had led a delegation of CORD leader to the region to inspect the ongoing registration of voters. They urged residents to register in large numbers.

The visit to Wagberi was prompted by earlier complaints that the Biometric Voter Registration kits in Wajir were not functioning.

Wetang'ula and Kalonzo said the Opposition would not settle for anything short of free and fair elections. They asked everyone to register as a voter where they were.

"It does not make sense to travel back home to register as a voter," said Kalonzo.
