Rutland, UK: A young teacher has been banned from the classroom for life after she bedded a teenage student at a boarding school where she taught.

Design and technology teacher Ruth Vaughan, 25, first kissed the 18-year-old sixth-former at an end-of-term leavers’ ball at posh Oakham School in Rutland.

Former pupils include England cricketer Stuart Broad, rugby star Lewis Moody, comedian Miles Jupp and Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay.

The pair went on to have a full-blown affair and she even visited the boy and had sex with him during his second week at university, a tribunal was told.

Vaughan was found to have abused her position of trust by starting a relationship with the teen - even though he had left the school when they first had sex.

The pupil - identified as Student A - told the hearing in Coventry that he kissed and swapped numbers with his teacher at the leavers’ ball in 2013.

He said they had a sexual relationship throughout the summer of that year - but Vaughan insisted that the pair did not have sex until August 2013.

Giving evidence by video link from Saudi Arabia, where she now lives, she admitted visiting Student A at university and having sex with him.

She accepted that the relationship was inappropriate even though the teenager had left the school, and expressed regret at her actions.

Vaughan also bought two underage Oakham students drinks in a pub - but she escaped censure because she did not know they were under 18.

She was found guilty by the National College for Teaching and Leadership of unacceptable professional conduct and banned from teaching in any school or sixth form college.
