A new application has been unveiled in the market to allow prospective homeowners search for details on properties of their choice within Nairobi.

This will be at the touch of a button on a mobile device or any other IT platforms such as a computer.

Jenga Web Limited Managing Director Nathan Luesby said the new system will help take guesswork out of the property market by providing real time data to lenders, developers and fund managers to allow them make informed decisions.

The app, My Hass Data, developed jointly with HassConsult, will go live on November 14, 2013.

Head of Marketing and Research-Hass Consult, Sakina Hassanali, said every building in Nairobi, including all data on commercial, retail and non-retail properties, has been mapped out.

Property type

“This will allow users to access such information as suburb, street, size of the property, type as well as rate of sales and vacancies available,”she said last week.

The application is a tool for any organisation or individual needing market information, conceiving investment strategies or researching development concepts.

“Investments, businesses – even research into cost of living allowances – all these decisions need updated relevant information of a higher quality and greater depth than we have seen to date,” said Hassanali.

The My Hass Data application will be available on the HassConsult website on a variety of subscription packages. “We shall also be plugging information on the Nairobi Securities Exchange and the bond market as well as other investment avenues when the application is fully operational” said Luesby.

The data will be updated once every three months and will be linked to the Nairobi County Government, which issues all approvals for all buildings within the city.

“We will be able to extrapolate on what is being planned, trends with each space and what has been approved by the city administration,” said Luesby. The sysem comes against the background of high interest rates on mortgage products.
