NAIROBI; KENYA: A meeting to discuss the funeral arrangements of the Late Senior Counsel Mutula Kilonzo is set for 3pm at the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Secretariat in Nairobi.
LSK Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Apollo Mboya said Former Attorney General and Busia Senator Amos Wako is the convener.
Mboya told www.lsk.or.ke that the meeting scheduled for 3pm at the LSK Secretariat along Gitanga Road in Lavington – Nairobi will involve all Senior Counsels.
“Senior Counsels have been informed and invited for the meeting on how to lay to rest Hon Mutula Kilonzo,” Mboya said.
Mboya said that the Late Senior Counsel (SC) Mutula Kilonzo was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya on July 21, 1975 and had a valid Practicing Certificate for this year.
“The departed SC made immense contributions to the legal practice and churned several legal minds during his stint as lecturer at the Kenya School of Law (KSL),” Mboya said.
The CEO said that the list of SC in the legal profession entailed Advocates of the High Court who had left a mark in the esteemed profession.
Mutula was among the esteemed list of Senior Counsels that include Attorney General Prof Githu Muigai, Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko, Justice Lee Muthoga, Pheroze Nowrojee, George Oraro, James Orengo, Omesh Kapila, Prof Annie Patricia Kameri Mbote, Joyce Majiwa, Lucy Kambuni, and Amb Raychelle Omamo, Ahmednasir Abdullahi, Prof Tom Ojienda, Okongo Omogeni, Kenneth Fraser and Kenneth Akide.
Others are Achhroo Ram Kapila, Satish Gautama, Samuel Waruhiu, Stewart Mackenzie Cook Thompson, Peter Le Pelley, Mohammed Zahir-Ud-Din Ahmad Malik, Ramnik Shah, Simani Sangale, George Benedict Maina Kariuki, Joe Wandago Okwatch, Fred Ojiambo, Paul Muite, Paul Wamae and Nzamba Kitonga among others.
Mutula passed on in his Maanzoni home in Machakos County, Saturday according to police reports. Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka broke the shocking news during a burial in Tseikuru in Mwingi North Constituency.
