KENYA: The meeting between CORD leaders and President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto in Nairobi was meant to unite the country.

During the meeting, Raila and Kalonzo informed the President and Deputy President that CORD would create a credible opposition in the National Assembly to ensure the new Government was held to account on its policies and programmes.

Later Wiper Democratic Movement (WDP) party leader Kalonzo Musyoka while attending the burial of Esther Kavindu Mutuku, daughter-in-law to the  late Ukambani political kingpin Mulu Mutisya, said that he is looking forward to a time when Kenyans would vote not on the strength of their community numbers but pick leaders they can trust.

“That way the issue of tyranny of numbers will be a thing of the past,” the former Vice-President said. He said Kenya had a brighter future and called on all leaders irrespective of their political persuasion to contribute to nation building.

Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama who was in attendance at the funeral said that he was ready and willing to step down from his senatorial post to pave way for Kalonzo who he described as the ‘undisputed’ leader of Ukambani who deserved a position in eitherthe the Senate or the National Assembly.

And while responding to Muthama’s sentiments, Kalonzo said that leadership comes from God and that Muthama’s gesture was a commendable one.
