Residents of Kimumu estate in Eldoret were recently stunned by a bizarre incident in which a pastor publicly got into a fierce brawl with his son because of a university girl they both had been dating.
The man of the cloth, 46, known for his firm stand on immorality, is reported to have left many speechless when the shocking news wafted across the estate.
“What is my uncle looking for in the young university girls and aunty is still young and beautiful?” posed his nephew who stays with him when the news first reached him.
Residents who spoke to Crazy Monday said they were bewildered by the acts of a man famed for delivering punchy sermons against societal decadence.
“We least expected this from him. He is very passionate in preaching against immorality,” lamented a middle-aged man in the estate.
The incident began when the girl’s university went in recess to allow students to participate in the just concluded polls.
The pastor’s son convinced his girlfriend — a colleague at the institution — to stay with her relative so that they could keep in touch during the poll period.
They could not, however, meet often as earlier planned since his father had warned him against fooling around the estate with women lest he taints his (father’s) saint-like image.
But due to the campus clubbing lifestyle that the two had adopted, the sassy campus diva could not abstain from partying. And not known to many in the estate, including his family, the man of God was a frequent reveller at one of the not-so-popular watering holes in the outskirts of the town.
The pastor coincidentally met the diva in her element and he could not hold back his feelings. He supposedly successfully seduced her and even exchanged phone contacts. The two even made a habit of hanging out till the late most nights.
It did not take long for his son to suspect that his girlfriend was cheating on him, as she rarely picked his calls at night. He, however, least expected it could be with his biological father.
Pandemonium broke out when the unsuspecting son used his father’s phone to make a surprise call to his sweetheart. Much to his surprise, his girlfriend’s number was saved as “Darl” in his father’s phone. The imagination that he and his father were being served honey by the same woman enraged him and got him panicking since such an act is taboo.
His worries were further confirmed when he found flirtatious text messages from his campus girl, in his father’s phone. He reported the matter to his mother.
Mother and son soon found out where the pastor had been hanging out and decided to lay an ambush. Once they confirmed that the pastor and the campus girl were together at the nightspot, they stealthily walked in on the pastor and found his girlfriend quaffing beer and chatting.
The embarrassing incident ended in a rather ugly manner. The vicar and the college girl got jeered and taunted by revellers as his wife dragged him away amid subtle insults from the two and onlookers who had milled around.
The rogue pastor has since left for his rural home in Kisii to save himself from further shame with plans to return only after dust has settled.
