World champion and record holder David Rudisha will lead compatriot Timothy Kitum in Kenya’s contention for more medals at the London Olympics after they sailed through to finals in 800m.

Rudisha won the second heat while Kitum was second in heat three, both making it to the finals set for Thursday night.

Rudisha easily won the heat in 1:45.35 and was followed by Great Britain’s Andrew Osagie who clocked 1:44.74.

In heat three, Kitum finished second in 1:44.63 after Mohammed Aman of Ethiopia who won in 1:44.34.

However another Kenyan, Antony Chemut failed to qualify for the finals after he finished fourth in heat one in 1:45.63. Abubakar Kaki of Sudan won the heat in 1:44:81
