A decision by the wife of an Assistant Minister to help a motorist cost her dearly when the ‘needy motorist’ turned robber in Nairobi’s Runda area.
Mrs Violet Mbiuki, the wife of Agriculture Assistant Minister Kareke Mbiuki, was driving home on Monday evening when a motorist flagged her down near her residence.
Mrs Mbiuki told police she was coming from a supermarket when the woman stopped her pointing at her tyres indicating they had been deflated and she needed help.
She then slowed down and rolled down the window of her car. She was shocked to see a pistol pointed at her head with an order to get off the steering wheel.

The minister’s wife heeded the orders and jumped out before she was bundled into the back seat of her car as a man took control of her car.
The gang ransacked the vehicle and stole Sh24,000, three mobile phones, two ATM cards, gold chains, and other personal effects before driving off the scene with the minister’s wife.
Mrs Mbiuki confirmed on Tuesday she was attacked and robbed of bags, jewelry, and cash among other valuables.
“I think they sprayed me with something that made me sleep because I woke up long after they had robbed me and gone,” she said.
Nairobi Area police boss Anthony Kibuchi, said the gang drove around with Mrs Mbiuki before abandoning her along Kiambu Road.
“I advise motorists not to stop for strangers,” said Kibuchi. Police statistics show a rise in cases of female thugs striking at night.
Elsewhere, police are looking for a gang that robbed a couple of cash and household goods in Santon estate, Nairobi. The couple was getting into their compound when a gang struck at the gate. The thugs forced them into their house where they grabbed a TV set, gas cylinder, and four mobile phones. They fled in a waiting car.
