New Jogoo Road Secondary School humbled Nile Road 27-6 in the handball final of the Nairobi Secondary Schools Sports Association Term Two  A Games played at Nyayo National Stadium.

 As expected, New Jogoo started attacking from the first minute of the game to the last whistle at  the weekend

By half time, New Jogoo were leading 11-3. In the second half, they intensified attacks to ensure they book a slot in Term One A national championships scheduled for  Eldoret on May 26 to June 2.

“We went to the game for nothing but a win. We have been training for this final and we are happy for the victory. Our only aim in the nationals is make sure that we finish in the top position, though it won’t be an easy task,” said Dorcas Mutuku, New Jogoo captain.

In another entertaining match of the day, Makongeni Secondary School dethroned handball powerhouse Aquinas 30-21 to qualify for the national Championships.

Upper Hill High thrashed Moi Forces Academy 10-0 in the rugby final played at Brook house School.

Buruburu Girls High School  could not tame Anointed in the girls’ netball final after they lost 32-24.

In other results, Rosemary Mumo from Riruta claimed the women’s 3,000 steeplechase title in 11:32.93. She was followed by Catherine Kipchumba of Kenya High who recorded 13:22.40.

Doreen Nyongesa from Dagoretti Mixed Secondary Schools was third after registering a time of 14:13.03.

Elvis Cheboi from Riruta won the men’s 5,000m in 14:01.96 ahead of is school mate Kelin Noor who recorded 14:11.38, while James Wasike from Langata Barracks was third in 14:21.0.

Rosemary Mumo won her second race when she came first in the women’s 5,000m  in 18:38.25. Her school mate, Cythia Togom was second in 18:44.25, followed by Faith Emma from Our Lady of Fatuma in 20:31.31.

Sheila Chepng’etich from Rituta claimed the women’s 1,500m title in 4:29.66 ahead of her schoolmate Sephrine  Chebet who finished in 5:11.59.

Cythia Kipchumba from Kenya High was third after clocking 5:34.50.

Sheila Chepngetich from Riruta  won the women’s 800m in 2:09.00 followed by her schoolmate Agataa Cheruto  in 2:14.72. Caroline Mwende from Elyon recorded 2:38.87 to finish third.

The winners during the  national championships in Eldo will represent Kenya in the East Africa Secondary Schools  Games slated for Burundi in August.
