Hundreds of officials and supporters from various political parties have defected to the newly registered The National Alliance ahead of its launch on Sunday.

Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to lead leaders from various parties during the launch at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC).

Former Kanu national youth leader Badi Ali on Tuesday led the supporters from ODM, PNU, Narc Kenya and Kanu from Nairobi County in shifting their political allegiance.

“After a series of consultations, we have come to the realisation that the myriad challenges facing the country including tribalism, unemployment, poor health care, poverty and divisive politics can only be resolved by TNA if it romps to power in the next General Election,” Ali said.

They claimed they wanted to disengage from the past and embrace new ideas that would help in changing the socio-economic and political destiny of the country.
