Kapsokwony Secondary School edged out Cheptais and Toroso in Mt Elgon sub branch to finish top of Group A as Copa Coca-Cola under-17 football championship entered its sixth round. 

Toroso and Cheptais are jointly second after playing to a barren draw at the weekend.

 In Group B, nothing could separate Kaptama and Promulgation as they both beat Kaptakeny 2-0 before drawing 2-2 against each other to finish joint second.

In the girls’ match, Kibuk Girls beat Kipsis 2-0.

 In Butere/Mumias sub-branch, hosts Butere Boys beat  Koyonzo Boys 3-0 before rounding off a fine day with a 2-0 win over Mwihila Boys, who had edged Koyonzo 1-0, to finish second in Group A.

Mumias Muslim were unstoppable in Group B, hitting  Shiatala Boys 2-1, before  thrashing Kholera 4-1.

Shiatala bounced back from their loss to beat Kholera 1-0 and finish second as Butere Girls beat Shiatala 3-1 in the girls’ encounter.

Komotobo edged out Taranganya on goal difference to top Group A in Kuria sub-branch, thanks to their 2-0 win over Kehancha Youth. This was  followed by a barren draw against Taranganya who had earlier beaten Kehancha Youth by a solitary goal.

Isebania topped Group B after winning 2-0 against Kehancha Olympic before holding St Peters Kegonga to a baren draw. Earlier, Kegonga had beaten Kehancha Olympic 1-0.

St Teresa’s Girls found the going too tough against Nyaroha who edged them 1-0.

Makueni Secondary collected all the six points on offer in the Makueni sub-branch Group A matches with resounding 4-1 and 1-0 wins over Ngakaa Academy and Mwaani Boys.

Makindu Secondary beat Unoa Sports 2-1 before drawing 1-1 with Mukuyini.  Makuyuni are now second in the group following their 1-1 draw against bottom-placed Unoa Sports.

Mukuyini Shooters hit the stars in the girls’ match, walloping Makueni Girls 4-0.

In Lugari sub-branch, Bishop Njenga ran over  Kongoni 4-0.

The boys’ matches were bereft of any huge wins save for Maturu Secondary’s 3-0 win over Matunda Boys. Maturu now top Group A inspite of their 0-0 draw with Lumakanda who also beat Matunda 2-0.

In Group B, Mautuma sent Matunda SDA crashing to the bottom of the group with a 2-0 win.
