Nakuru, Kenya: Police in Nakuru on Friday night arrested two men for allegedly assaulting a Standard Group driver who was on official night duty.

The two, a Kenya Defence Force official identified as Major ole Maika of the Kenya Navy and one John Kirui are said to have been drunk when they assaulted the driver outside a popular nightclub in town.

The Nakuru-based driver, Gideon Mudoga alleged that the two approached him as soon as he parked the company car on Kenyatta Avenue.

He said the military officer started punching him on the face while his friend hurled despicable insults.

The 12.34am incident almost paralysed business at the nearby Night Club, as revelers enjoying their Easter thronged to witness the rare brawl.

“They just came towards me immediately I parked the vehicle and one of them forced open the door and violently manhandled me… I was defenceless,” said Mr Mudoga.

It took the intervention of police, who arrived at the scene to contain the situation 30 minutes later.
