PS urges parents to ensure transition of students to tertiary education

Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has urged parents to ensure the smooth transition of students who sat 2024 KCSE, to tertiary education.

This comes after Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba released the 2024 KCSE results.

Speaking at a burial in Njeri village, Karachuonyo constituency on Friday, Dr Omollo said all students who sat the examination have a place in life regardless of the grades they scored.

He told parents not to consider any student a failure, but as one who should be nurtured and placed somewhere.

The PS said the students can enroll in universities or Technical Vocational Education and Training institutions.

“The KCSE results have been released but I am appealing to parents to ensure all the students transit smoothly. Every student who sat the exam has an opportunity in life regardless of the grade they got and they still have a good future if they transit smoothly,” he said.

Omollo who was accompanied by Shipping and Maritime Affairs PS Geoffrey Kaituko, also called for smooth transition of students who sat for Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) to Grade 7.

The PS assured of the government’s commitment to ensure quality education but said this could happen through joint efforts with parents.

“The government has good plans for ensuring all students get the education they deserve. Let parents also play their roles effectively,” he said.

Dr Omollo urged residents to register for Social Health Authority (SHA) to ensure they access healthcare.

He said SHA will ensure people who are financially challenged get medical care without paying money.

“The cost of medication is very high and many families cannot afford it. The contribution to the SHA ranges from as low as Sh300 to Sh50,000 depending a one’s income. Let our people register for SHA because it is the cheapest means of settling medical bills,” Dr Omollo said.
