Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez names price he will pay for Paul Pogba transfer

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is not prepared to splash the cash when it comes to signing Paul Pogba.

The Manchester United star continues to angle for a move away after missing out on a transfer during the summer window.

Pogba hasn't featured for the Red Devils since the end of September after suffering an ankle injury.

But Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane remains extremely interested in signing the United wantaway in the near future.

However, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo report president Perez isn't as keen on the Frenchman and is only willing to sanction a cut-price deal of £50m.

The Madrid chief was the stumbling block in the summer too, after being unwilling to meet United's £180m price tag after spending almost £300m on new talent at the Bernabeu. Perez is still unwilling to push through a deal before the summer and his low-ball offer is unlikely to persuade United chiefs to part ways with their star attraction, even if the player continues to look for a move elsewhere.

The Madrid board are worried that Pogba's salary demands, agent fees, and sponsorship rights will see the transfer exceed £100m, even if the cut-price deal is accepted by United.

Zidane, however, expects the club to break the bank to bring his number one transfer target to the club.

The three-time Champions League-winning manager reportedly agreed to return to Madrid on the basis that Pogba would be brought in.

Speculation of a move intensified earlier this season when the pair were spotted talking on a Dubai beach.

Solskjaer was asked about Pogba's future back in September and shot down claims Perez and Zidane were close to taking the player from Old Trafford.

“I don’t listen to the president of Real Madrid,” he said.

“I am not worried now and I will never be worried in the future about Paul staying here. "If it all kicks off again in January, there will be no worries then either. If we have to live with the speculation again, then we will handle it like we did in the summer.

“Paul is going nowhere, he is working hard and is totally committed to Manchester United. He is one of our big characters, someone who will walk out on to any pitch and be full of confidence.

"That’s what I look for in a United player. You need a big personality to play for this club.”
