Defending champions Kabras Sugar maintained their perfect start to the 2024-2025 Kenya Cup season after hammering Strathmore University Leos 45-5 in a one sided match played on Saturday in Nairobi.

Roy Muruti got the sugar men off to a perfect start after touching down the opening try that was converted by Barry Robinson for a 7-0 lead.

Erick Cantona made it 12-0 with an unconverted try before Eugene Sifuna bulldozed his way to the try line for the visitors third try of the match that Cantona converted for 19-0 lead.

Walter Okoth joined the fray by grounding the bonus point try for 26-0 lead after Cantina added the extras.

With the defending champions dominating play since kick off, the university students gave their fans something to take away from the half when they responded with an unconverted try to cut the lead to 26-5.

However, it was Kabras that had the last laugh of the opening 40 minutes when Hillary Odhiambo bagged the fifth try for the millers who took a comfortable 33-5 half time lead after Cantona added the extras.

In the final half, Griffin Chao went over the white wash for the sixth time for the sugar millers who stretched their lead to 40-5 after Cantona's conversion.

Chao rounded off the scores with an unconverted try as Kabras stretched their winning streak to four matches.

Despite their 45-5 win, Kabras slipped to second in the table despite amassing the same number of points as their nemesis KCB Rugby, 20 points.

This is because the bankers thrashed Mwamba 77-22, a massive win that saw the former Kenya Cup champions move top with a superior point difference of 248 points. Kabras have 239 points after four matches.
