Car makers call on Nokia for map service

German car makers BMW, Audi and Daimler have teamed up to buy digital mapping service HERE for 2.8 billion euros ($3.1 billion) from Nokia, the Finnish telecoms group said.

The sale “should be concluded in the first quarter of 2016,” Nokia said in a statement, adding it expected net proceeds from the deal of just over 2.5 billion euros.
