From Luxury in Germany to begging for rent: The rise and fall of Nyako

Kenyan TikToker Nyako has left the internet buzzing after posting a video pleading for financial help.

Once known for her extravagant lifestyle in Germany, the social media sensation now finds herself in a desperate situation, asking fans to assist her in paying rent.

In a viral clip, Nyako appears dejected, dressed in a marvin and a jungle-green military jacket. Gone is the confident woman who once flaunted her wealth online.

Instead, she looks sombre, her voice heavy with emotion. "Ninaomba mnisaidie tu kulipa rent," she pleads with her online followers.

Nyako explains that she has been away from TikTok for three to four months but promises to return.

She emphasises that TikTok GIFTS, a form of digital currency sent by fans, will be essential in helping her bounce back financially.

"I have been out of TikTok for three to four months and am coming back. Gifts nitazihitaji juu nimeamua kujikimu kimaisha," she adds, her voice filled with determination.

What remains a mystery is why she took a long break from TikTok, especially considering that her page was highly profitable.

During her peak, Nyako lived in a stunning house in Germany, where she often recorded videos of herself cooking sumptuous meals in a spacious kitchen.

She spoke boldly about her wealth and even advised women on how to get rich, positioning herself as an example of success.

However, her latest video paints a completely different picture. She insists that she does not want help from her German partners, making it clear that she is determined to build her own wealth independently.

"Mimi sitaki pesa ya Wajerumani, nimeamua kujikimu mimi mwenyewe. Let us continue from where we left off, and it's going to be bigger and better," she says with conviction.

Nyako’s plea has sparked a flurry of reactions from netizens, with some sympathising with her while others mock her apparent fall from grace.

A user named Joshua Saima could not hide his disbelief, asking, "Who are these fools pampering her?"

His words echoed the sentiments of many who questioned why fans should send money to someone who once portrayed herself as wealthy.

Another social media user, George Nyanchoka, was blunt in his response, "Sii aende Kibera ya uko aishi," he wrote, suggesting that she should move to a lower-income neighbourhood instead of begging online.

Mkurugenzi Peter, known for his humour, found a way to turn Nyako’s situation into a joke. "Iko wapi number yake ya simu? Niichukue niende ni print niweke kwa post ya stima niandike, mganga kutoka Ukambani anayetibu mapenzi, nguvu za kiume," he joked.

Lydia Jebet did not hold back, saying, "Ujinga ataacha aishi juu ya mti." Her comment likely suggests that this experience might humble Nyako and change her ways.

Despite the harsh criticism, Nyako remains hopeful that her return to TikTok will mark the beginning of a new chapter.
