70-year-old man in Mombasa kills young wife for denying him sex

County_Nairobi

The High Court  in Mombasa has ordered that an elderly man be detained for allegedly killing his  wife. The man is accused of killing his wife for denying him sex.

Kahindi Kazungu,70,  is said to have stabbed his 28-year-old wife in the chest thrice with a kitchen knife in the wee hours of the night.

According to the investigating officer, Charles Namisi, Kazungu walked into the station with the murder weapon and surrendered himself.

Kazungu has been living with his wife Asmah Konde in Jiloni, Changamwe for five years. They run a small business, selling doughnuts.

Kazungu confessed to police that his wife has always denied him sex and mocked him about his performance in bed.

He said that on the fateful night, the wife said that there were younger men who could handle her way better than he could and wanted nothing to do with him.

“She provoked me into killing her. She told me that there were better men who could handle her way better than I did and an old man like me had nothing to offer her,” read the statement by Kazungu.

The two are said to have sired one child, who passed away after falling sick.

Kazungu is said to have married the young wife after the death of his first wife with whom they had two children.

The man sat in court with sorrow and regret written on his face and struggled to keep off tears as the prosecution requested to detain him for seven days pending investigations.

He told High Court judge PJ Otieno that there were no witnesses in the house on the night of the murder and raised no objection to his detention.

“There were no witnesses, it was just me and her that night,” said Kazungu.

Otieno directed that he be detained for seven days to allow for further investigations and be arraigned in court by May 2, 2017.

The investigating officer said that the incident was a rare case.

“This is such a rare incident. Most of the cases we handle revolve around love triangles. But this is extreme considering the age bracket,” said Namisi.
