Former Tv reporter Mohammed Ali prepares for a Nyali re-run

News

As the Kenyan political arena hits up and the nationwide nomination voting takes place, there is bound to be winners and losers.

Unfortunately some winners have been accused by their counterparts of rigging their way to the top, leaving the competition crying foul.

One such constituency where grievances have been passed was in Nyali where former television personality Mohammed Ali famed for Jicho Pevu was contesting for a seat under the ODM ticket.

After presenting his manifesto to the people and showing up early to vote, Mohammed Ali said he had realized that there was a ploy to lock him out.

“I have been locked out. I can't vote, my people were not allowed to vote on time while Ali Hassan Joho's brother was allowed to run away with 5 polling stations as early as 7am. All my polling stations were opened at around 2-3pm. The Joho's have decided to count our votes on our behalf without our permission. It's a family affair. Let Joho announce the brothers thuggery win tonight at the ASK ground. This album will forever be in my heart. The Joho's time will come. I will fight till the last man standing.” Mohammed Ali had said

Keeping his word, Mohammed Ali started his battle by taking to social media to keep his followers updated, then showing up for television interviews where he addressed the issue head on.

Also taking to the courts to contest the final results, Mohammed added that

“Those who make peaceful reform impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”

Fortunately the courts headed to his plea and went ahead to nullify the final results affirming that

“The ODM Nyali constituency nomination exercise did not meet the threshold of free and credible elections.”

As people get ready for a re- run of the elections, many have expressed their opinions asking him to move on, one of the Nyali constituents had this to say.

“I believe democracy is about expressing and advocating freedom through the will of power. Let Moha request for a re-run and the Nyali residents shall decide; for both of them to decide to be in ballot means they have something better to offer Nyali residents as per their party's manifesto and pledges…Remember Nyali is larger than both Saidoo and Mohaa, we pray for a fair and peaceful re-run.”
