Whether at the county or the national levels, aspiring leaders have been putting up campaigns and addressing voters in the quest to pass their manifesto and urge the people to vote them in. This message is often reinforced by the media who broadcast the campaign messages further.
For Miguna Miguna however, he says the media is not covering him while he’s on the ground.
Known for his eloquence and aggressive nature, Miguna is known to shake his competition off with facts that more often than not leave them agitates.
With people and media paying keen focus on Peter Kenneth, Mike Sonko and Evans Kidero as top Nairobi governor contestants, Miguna lashed out on live television saying the media was ignoring him.
Asked whether he was doing campaigns on the ground, he said,
“There are hundreds of thousands of Nairobi voters who want to vote for me, but they are saying you don’t want to give me airtime, you argue with me, you don’t do the same with others, you try to diminish my campaign by saying Miguna is not on the ground, when I’m on the ground you don’t cover me… The media has an agenda.” Miguna ranted
After a heated exchange, the host Jeff Koinange alluded to the fact that he had given Miguna quite the platform on television.
Asked what would happen if he lost in the Nairobi governor race, Miguna had a ready response.
Jeff: What if you lose Miguna?
Miguna: This is not life and death, there will be winners, there will be losers but it will only be determined by voters on August 8th.
