The Mill-Hill Missionaries, an international fellowship of Catholic missionaries, founded St. Francis Rang’ala Girls High School in 1932 in Ugenya, Siaya County.

The school was however transformed into a women teachers training college — which was later moved to Asumbi in Homa Bay County.
