Why Tanzanian rapper Darassa failed to turn up for Nairobi show

African News

For the second time, Darassa failed to show up for a show that was scheduled to take place at the Ngong Racecourse on the 18th starting 6pm till late. Word on the street was that he simply failed to show up.

This was after he turned down a popular club appearance early this year and blamed it on miscommunication.

On Speaking with the promoter, Don Matino, he clarifies this was not the case for Mziqi festival. There was a problem with logistics, which was communicated to the artiste and understood, that will be handled.

The first announcement of the festival declared the venue to be at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) but was later changed to Ngong Racecourse.

The reason for change of venue was influenced by the Doba Festival which took place on the 18th of March same time Mziqi was to take place.

There were also genuine concerns from the promoter that the show would have flopped if put up against the Doba fest hence the postponement.

In a conversation between Darassa and Don Matino, they have agreed to have the show postponed to a later date before or in April 2017, a date they will make official.

An audio clip released this morning has Darassa apologizing to his fans for not showing up.
