Forget the world wars, ‘Sponsors' vs. 'Team Mafisi' will be the nastiest

Counties

The world has been abuzz. As US President Barack Obama’s reign comes to an end at the end of this week, it’s no doubt that Russia can afford to brag that it has the US in its pocket! If indeed Russia did what it has been accused off by the Democrats in the US, accusations that made President Obama nearly kick off the third world war, then it’s a no brainer that Russia have indeed scored one against Uncle Sam.

While the contest for global domination takes centre stage among the powerful nations, at the social scene, if ever we are going to see a nasty contestation, then it will involve so-called ‘sponsors’, rich married men who offer financial support to younger girls as secret lovers, versus members of so-called ‘Team Mafisi’, randy men whose day job is chasing skirts and bragging about their conquests.

These two groups of men all have their eyes on the prize. Just like the contest at the global level, while one group is obscenely rich and has all manner of resources and means to land the ultimate prize, the other has to deploy all manner of tactics, ingenuity, honey-coated lyrics and outright chivalry to stand a chance.

Sponsors long time ago decided to let their wallets do the talking. They don’t even bother to pretend to have any sort of romance to get the love from the young women. But why would they do it? A wand of notes with a dead president on it is more appealing and sensual than 100 rhymes spit by a broke fisi (hyena).

As if that is not enough, the young girls are showing little sympathy to the fisis who are generally in their age group, all the love flows to the moneybags. Even if the hyenas may be willing to share, the girls are reluctant to play ball. This rejection and uncompetitive nature of these arrangements have left the fisis disfranchised.

Granted, the Congolese say you cannot teach the paths of the forest to an old gorilla so we can expect that the sponsors will continue in their ways. But if the hyenas cannot have it any other way, perhaps it’s the old gorillas that may need to learn new paths.

Short of cash

Anyone who has been to a public university can attest to the blatant disregard with which the girls in your class hooked up by sponsors treated the brethren. There is this fellow who poured his heart out to me last week.

He had genuine love for a voluminous girl back in college. He would do everything in his power to get favours and mileage in his journey of love. But the girl could hardly reciprocate; she treated this as extra-ordinary kindness from the poor son of woman.

Now what broke the camel’s back is this guy’s realisation that he was always hitting a brick wall because, there was indeed an invisible wall created by a war chest of money that this girl was getting from the ‘sponsor’.

The poor guy could sell his liver, spleen and just everyone in the family, including his grandmother, but he would never raise a percentage of the largesse that the tycoon offered the girl of his dreams.

He dreamed many days of using his college fees to contract a killer to wipe the old geezer off the face of the earth. But he never actually raised enough money. Whether he simply baulked out of the idea or indeed he was telling the truth that run short of cash, we will never know.

But what is for sure is that the bitterness that I saw from this guy, if he met the ‘sponsor’ in a dark corner today, he would personally take matters in his own hands. Murder!

The next big fight has been stewing between the ‘sponsors’ and ‘mafisi’, and the day it will break out, it will be nasty I tell you. Just wait and see.
